How we work.
The honest version.

A lot of reading, playing ourselves where we can, and smart tools for the heavy lifting. Below is exactly who does what, including what AI does.

Mostly desk research

Most of the work is reading and comparing. Specs come from the brands' own sites: weight, balance, shape, core, face. For every value we keep the page it came from.

On top of that we read independent review sites and follow the prices at the shops every day. Not every review is equally good; which sources we use and why is explained in how we score.

Testing ourselves where we can

I play a lot of padel and over the years I have bought, borrowed, played and sold quite a few rackets. That experience is in the guides, the questions of the racket finder and in what we think matters on a racket page.

To be fair: I have not played every racket on this site. That is why the score is not based on my taste, but on published specs and what independent reviewers concluded. That way you can check every number.

AI for the heavy lifting

Reading hundreds of product pages, putting specs in the same units, summarising reviews and translating everything into three languages: we do that with the help of AI language models. Without that help, a small team could not build a site like this.

AI also writes the first version of texts. Those do not go live as they are: they are checked against the specs and sources on the page, and I rewrite guides and explanations myself.

Checks and corrections

A spec only goes live when it appears on the source page. If something is missing, the page says it is not published, not a guess. We actively look for conflicts between sources, odd values and wrongly matched prices, and fix them.

Still spotted a mistake? Let us know. A correction goes live after a check against the brand's own page.

What AI does

  • Read brand product pages and pull out the specs
  • Read reviews and summarise the verdict per aspect
  • Write first versions of texts
  • Translate into Dutch and German

What AI does not do

  • Decide scores: that is a fixed, public formula
  • Invent specs or fill in gaps
  • Pretend a racket was played
  • Decide which rackets come out on top
