Light padel rackets: who they suit and which to pick
A light racket is quick in your hand and easy on a tired arm. It also gives up some power. How to find the right one.
Most adult rackets weigh between 355 and 375 grams. That does not sound like much of a range, but you feel every ten grams after an hour on court. Light rackets sit at 355 grams or below.

Who a light racket suits
Players who get tired. A lighter racket takes less effort per swing. Your technique holds up longer in the third set.
Players with a sensitive arm or shoulder. Less weight means less load on every swing. Do combine it with a low balance and a soft core; see our guide on tennis elbow for why too light can work against you.
Smaller players and juniors. If a standard racket feels like a club, it is too heavy for you.
Net players. At the net you need to react fast. A light racket gets there sooner.
What you give up
Power and stability. A heavier racket carries more energy into the ball and moves less when a hard ball hits it. With a light racket you add that speed yourself. Some light rackets make up for it with a higher balance; that brings back some punch, but also some of the strain.
How we measure weight
Brands give a range, like 345 to 360 grams, because every racket comes out of the mould slightly different. We use the middle of that range. So a racket listed at 345 to 360 counts as 352.5 grams.
